Head of Consumer Marketing
As the head of Google’s consumer marketing, Wataru oversees B2C strategy and marketing covering a range of Google products such as Search, Android, Play, Chrome, and YouTube, as well as the Google brand in Japan. Prior to his current role, he was responsible for marketing to large companies and YouTube marketing in the Asia Pacific region, expanding new media platforms in key countries. Before joining Google, he led the marketing and product development of Jalan.net, a leading online travel service at Recruit. Prior to that, he was a project manager at NTT Communications. Wataru received his MBA from Carnegie Mellon University and master’s degree in engineering from Kyoto University. He lives in Tokyo with his wife and three children.
