Social Networking Saves Lives

Today, social media has been utilized for social good and causes around the world. I would like to share my social commitment as an animal activist in California as an example of a social good. Each day, thousands of dogs and cats are euthanized in local shelters due to the lack of kennel space created from a mass overflow of unwanted family pets. I along with many activists use Facebook, Instagram and other means of networking to let the public be aware of this problem and through social media we are able to connect rescue organizations, adopters and volunteers to save many lives.

ALL YOUNG CREATIVES HAVE DREAMS

I am a 25-years-old communication planner. My dream is to become a great creative person. At the beginning of this year, together with my designer partner Shoko Maeda, I submitted a work to a creative competition for young creatives under the age of 28. The winning pair would be sent to the Young Lotus Workshop in Pattaya, Thailand. We were very fortunate to be selected as the winning pair out of 117 pairs. This meant we were to go to Pattaya, representing Japan. We joined the other pairs from 12 different countries who were our classmates during the 3-day workshop as well as competitors in a creative competition. In the first part of this session, I will talk about all the enriching experiences I gained through the workshops and the competition. And the second part will be a dialogue between Yukio Nakayama, creative consultant of Dentsu and one of our mentors and a judge at the Young Lotus Workshop, and myself. He will talk about the environment which is necessary for nurturing young creatives. It is a dream of experienced creatives to help grow young creatives who all have dreams.

Truth about Global Brands

The market and people’s behavior are ever-changing. To reveal the “truth” hidden behind these changes and grasp trends in people’s values and mindsets, McCann’s global thought leadership unit “McCann Truth Central,” conducts global studies on given themes. In 2015, McCann Truth Central focused on the truth about global brands. It unveils what are people’s attitudes and beliefs towards globalness? How media and overall cultural landscape is evolving as a result of increasingly globalized markets? How should brands navigate this environment in order to win? These were questions pursued in a quantitative survey conducted in 29 markets with over 30,000 people and supplemented by qualitative research that included in-home ethnographies and interviews with experts inside and outside of the industry.
